Auroville City: With Absolute Freedom Without Politics, No Religion And No Money

Think of a place where you can finally live in peace. This will seem like something that took place a long time ago, but actually, it still exists.
This is still a place where people who do not follow customary standards live.
They have no money, religion, or politics. It is an ideal society, a paradise to live in.

Auroville is located in South India, 150 kilometers from Chennai in Madras. The concept of Auroville (an ideal township devoted to an experiment in human unity) came to the Mother as early as the 1930s. In the mid-1960s the Sri Aurobindo Society in Pondicherry proposed to Her that such a township should be started. She gave her blessings. The concept was then put before the Govt. of India, who gave their backing and took it to the General Assembly of UNESCO. In 1966 UNESCO passed a unanimous resolution commending it as a project of importance to the future of humanity, thereby giving their full encouragement.

The person who designed and managed to found this wonderful city was: Mirra Alfassa, better known as “Mother”.

Mirra Alfassa

“There should be a place on Earth that no nation could claim as their own; where all human beings of good will who have a sincere aspiration could live freely as citizens of the world, obeying one single authority, that of the supreme truth. A place of peace, concord and harmony where all the fighting instinct in man were used exclusively to overcome the cause of their sufferings and miseries, to overcome their weaknesses and ignorance, and to triumph over their limitations and disabilities. A place where the needs of the spirit and interest of progress precedence over the satisfaction of desires and passions or the pursuit of pleasure and material enjoyment,” was the idea of Alfassa.

From this perspective view, now we know this is amazing international city,

People who inhabit this place come from around 50 nations, hailing from all age groups, social classes, cultures and backgrounds. In short, Auroville represents humanity as a whole. Its population currently stands at close to 2,400 people.

This city is positioning itself as a model of sustainable eco-city. It is a method developed by the multi-cropping, combining fruit trees, cornfields and orchards, organized into 15 farms, reaching an area of 160 hectares. In this way, they ensure much food, so supply the population.

In these farms work 50 villagers and 300 neighbors, producing 2% of rice and cereals consumed and 50% of vegetables.

Also, the village is also self-sufficient in milk and dairy products, and fruits in season.
